The Yoga Club is a specialist weekly class targeted at the needs of runners and cyclists.

Yoga can improve performance and reduce the risk of injury

Practicing yoga helps runners and cyclists increase performance, reduce injury and relieve stress. It improves cycling and running efficiency by developing the strength and flexibility of the quads, hamstrings, calves, ITB and the muscles in the core and the hip flexors. It's also great for balance and breathing.

What happens in a Yoga Club class?

Every class starts with a pranayama (breathing) exercise followed by a 20 minute sequence that you'll then be able to use as a thorough cool down stretch following a run or a ride. You can find a link to videos of the sequence at the bottom of this page. The core of the class has specific yoga postures to develop your running and cycling function and reduce injury risk. The class ends with a final relaxation.

About Phil

Phil Waters finishing the Edinburgh Marathon
I've spent over 20 years running and completing races from 10Ks up to full marathons. My favourite distance is the half marathon and my happiest moment was completing the Edinburgh Marathon in 3:14. I've also spent many hours in the saddle on road bikes and regularly attend spin classes.
